City of Tigard Newsletter: November 2017 Edition Page 3 of 7 Mayor's Corner: Planning for a Sound Future Tigard's population is about 50,000, and we continue to grow by almost 2 percent each year because people want and enjoy the quality of life here. In truth, we should be making some modest improvements to maintain this quality of life, not cutting services. We need more sidewalks, more police officers (we still have the same number of officers we had nine years ago!), better maintenance and facilities in all of our parks. Read more... Making Progress on Redevelopment Downtown Three aging buildings on Main Street near Fanno Creek were recently removed. The structures, owned by the Town Center Development Agency, sat on a contaminated site that is being cleaned through a federal grant. Cleanup and testing will continue for several months.
