# 1 (5:05) Welcome and Introductions
Round the table introductions.
# 2 (5:07) Review and Approve Meeting Notes
August meeting minutes accepted by those in attendance. NOTE: PBS is not
required to approve its notes/minutes.
# 8 (5:09) Engineering Update: Repaving/construction (Mike)
Mike shared construction projects update with print outs to the committee.
Shared comments about street paving project and new surfacing treatment
that included slurry seal and fine crushed rock. Other items mentioned:
• Added buffered bike lane on Gaarde Street south of Walnut.
• New rapid rectangular flashing beacon (RRFB) crossings and crosswalk
improvements at SW 116th and at Fowler Middle School (mid-block).
• The overlook at Dirksen Park is currently being constructed.
• Also shared was work on Hall Blvd Crosswalk and RRFB installation (at
Joann Fabrics location), Fonner Street, Main Street, 135th Ave., and SW
Morning Hill Drive.
#3 (5:30) Member and Guest Communications
• Jen mentioned Tigard has hired a new Safe Routes to Schools
coordinator. New hire not able to attend the September PBS mtg.
• Serge mentioned Fonner Street and new changes to roadway striping
that have made a difference and benefit to pedestrians walking here.
• Steve Boughton attended 2017 Policy Makers Ride. The bike ride was
in downtown Portland and is meant to showcase infrastructure or lack
of. Attendance includes city and county officials, transportation staff,
local advocates, active transportation staff, bicycle shop owners, etc.
• Cherokee is planning to deliver a presentation on biking in October.
• Tigard Street Fair—Alan mentioned fair used bike cabs as part of
event and that this year's 5K run was sold out.

#4 (5:50) PSU Crosswalk Study (Bob Burdalski (Engineering Intern)
Bob share information about crosswalk study being done in Tigard using
ODOT and FHWA research criteria. The study is looking at uncontrolled
intersections that have marked crosswalks.
No tools are available to assess safety of marked crosswalks after added;
where there needs to be a method to measure effectiveness. Bob shared
data currently available and gave details about work being done.
#5 (6:10) Speed Reduction Campaign (Buff)
This item was tabled for a later date.
#6 (6:10) Group Ride Ideas
More discussion on proposed group bike rides. Basil mentioned he would
contact Oregon Street Trust (formerly BTA) to ask about BTA attendance at
future PBS meeting. The purpose would be to discuss previous bike ride in
Tigard in 2014 where BTA helped. (Update: Basil contacted OST and they are
not able to attend a PBS meeting at this time. A suggestion might be to draft a
letter with a request to OST for their support in helping organize future Tigard
bike rides.)
#7 (6:14) SW Corridor Update
Former member SW Corridor CAC member Steven Beiling is moving out of
state; Serge has been asked to take Steven's place on the CAC.
One update on SW Corridor project construction budget with cost going up
from 2.8 billion to 3 plus billion. Project is now tasked with cutting half a
billion dollars from construction budget.
#9 (6:20) Next meeting
There was a general discussion about future agenda topics. Some suggested
items or invites include:
• Shelley Oylear, Wash. Co. Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator. Shelley
has attended PBS meetings in the past.
• Kathy McAlpine, Tigard Police Chief(recently hired).
• Oregon Street Trust
• Metro Intertwine staff
• Bus Rapid Transit or Light Rail Transit and Station Development
