These are the people who keep our city safe and sound every day. They are patrolling our streets, maintaining our parks, serving patrons at our library, ensuring our water and sewer systems are functioning properly, working with our community partners like local businesses and non- profits, connecting with our residents, serving on boards and committees, etc. Read more... Project Homeless Connect Coming to Tigard on Oct. 13 The nonprofit Washington County Project Homeless Connect (PHC) is hosting an event in Tigard for the first time. The mission of Project Homeless Connect is to bring communities together to create and promote tangible solutions that remedy the homelessness of their neighbors. PHC is a one-day, one-stop event designed to connect individuals in need to services and supports. The event will take place at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Oct. 13, and is supported by the Tigard Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Tigard program and other volunteers. Read more... Tigard Employees and Area Nonprofit Help Supply Students This school year, City of Tigard employees once again partnered with Community Partners for Affordable Housing to support the group's back-to-school supply drive. Tigard staff donated boxes full of backpacks, pens, pencils, notebooks, scissors and crayons, providing cash-strapped Tigard-Tualatin School District families with school supplies. Read more... Task Force for the Homeless Prepares Recommendations Since July, the Task Force for the Homeless has been examining the growing needs of our homeless population. Looking ahead, the task force will develop possible short-term and long-term recommendations, to be presented to the City Council on Dec. 19. The council will consider the proposals as part of its annual goal-setting process in early 2018. Read more...
