I visited the site 12:30 p.m. July 31, 2017. I met on site with the property owner of the above mention address, Nick Gibson. Tree Inventory After visiting the site and hearing some background on the two Douglas firs in question and the recent failure of a tree within a short proximity to the potential removals, I examined the trees. The first Douglas fir is 51" in diameter at breast height and is located on the northwest side of the property near the center of the fence line. The tree had stems and a very aggressive V-shape. I determined my DBH calculation by adding the largest stem to '/2 of the other stems diameter. This makes these much more susceptible to wind. The second fir is 18" in diameter at breast height. This fir has severe damage to the root zone because it was entangled with a tree that previously failed. The ground around this root area is severely dry and visibly cracking. The Douglas first are not enough to any surrounding trees to have an impact if it were to be removed. The condition of the trees surveyed is indicated as being Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor, Very Poor or Dead. Trees rated as Very Good are prime specimens with no visible defects. Trees rated as good may have minor defects but are stable trees in good health. Trees rated as Fair usually contain at least one visible defect that may become significant sometime in the future. Poor trees contain at least significant one visible defect that may be structural or cosmetic. Poor trees usually display reduced vigor and may be candidates for removal. Trees rated as Very Poor contain significant defects that are hazardous, or near hazardous and are recommended for removal. ID Common Species DBH Condition Comments Name 1 Douglas Fir Pseudotsuga 51" Fair Canopy is in fair menziesii condition however significant structural defects in severe V shape and dry loose root zone. 2 Douglas Fir Psuedotsuga 18" Poor Canopy is healthy menziesii however is fair however root zone is weak and is a potential hazard. Conclusion After a review of the proposed removal plan, and personally visiting the site, I have concluded that the two Douglas firs in the above-mentioned table to be potentially hazardous and I do not see any negative impact if the tree were to be removed.
