Purpose. Evaluate: Lots 145 & 146 footing subgrade,Temporary parking lot, structural fill
Outstanding Issues: Proof roll road and curb base rock and repair as needed before paving

At time of arrival I observed three earth work crew onsite in the process of preparing subgrade and fill.
„Lots 145& 146
I observed that one of the onsite earthwork crew was in the process of cutting footing subgrade for model homes
within lots 145& 146.I observed the subgrade to consist generally of structural fill material with areas of exposed
basalt. Using a%2"diameter steel foundation rod I probed the footing subgrade for the building within these lots.
Probing indicated stiff subgrade (Probing basalt I hit immediate refusal). I was informed there will be no footing
base rock.
Temporary Parking Lot
I observed that one of the onsite earthwork crew was in the process of preparwarea within lots 139& 140 for a
temporary parking lot for model homes. I was informed that crew placed approx.4"of%" minus crushed rock on
the surface of structural fill subgrade and there will be an approx. 2"AC section. Compaction efforts were completed
utilizing a large single smooth drum roller. I observed no to negliable deflection under the roller during compaction
efforts. Using a Y2"diameter steel foundation rod I probed the,parking area base rock. Probing indicated dense base
rock. I was informed AC section would be removed at a later date and subgrade repair before construction of
building.
.Structural Fill
While onsite I was informed by NEI that they had placed approx. l'to 1.5' of native fill material within lots '166-170
(see site plan for details). Compaction efforts were completed utilizing a CAT 815$)pad foot compactor. Using
Troxler 3430 nuclear density gauge I tested the relative density of the fill and compared the results to a field
adjusted proctor value of 116.0pcf'at 16.3 percent optimum moisture content(proctor value was adjusted due to
amount of rock present in testing areas). 92%compaction of optimum dry density value is required to meet our
recommendations. Areas tested met our recommendations. I observed 17 and 20 blows on a Y2"diameter steel pin
with a 6-lbs hammer to drive pin approx. 12" into material, indicating density compacted fill.
Based on our observations, testing,and,,probing, areas of observed fill, subgrade, parking area base rock,indicated
on attached site plan have been prepared in general accordance with our geotechnical recommendations.
