Tigard Police Distribute Rewards To Four Citizens
The Tigard Police Department is pleased to announce that four
citizens from the area have been recognized for their responsible
actions. Tigard Police received information from the group which
led to the arrest and conviction of four individuals for their part in
the widespread incidents of vandalism across the area in May and
June of 2001.
More than 30 separate incidents involving criminal mischief,
including graffiti and destruction of private and public property,
including several schools and Tigard Parks were connected to the
four persons arrested.
Tigard Police provided $1000, being matched by another $1000
• from the Tigard-Tualatin School District. The entire reward was
evenly distributed amongst the four recipients. The recipients, one
woman and three men, all requested anonymity. All four expressed
the sincere need to respond with information to police after hearing
of the crimes earlier this year. One person stated that they would
use a portion of the reward money to further their education.
Another person donated the money to an area to assist children.
Tigard Police Chief Ron Goodpaster expressed his thoughts
regarding the ultimate resolution to this case..."It is very
rewarding to hear citizens come forward with crime solving
information. I commend and thank them for their sense of
citizenship and community responsibility."
