Tigard Police D.A.R.E. Vehicle Turning Heads

Everywhere
School Resource Officer Rick Peterson recently traded his 1991
Chevrolet Caprice D.A.R.E. vehicle for a new one. Officer
Peterson now commands a Cadillac. What makes this Cadillac
special is that it is not your standard sedan...it is a"funeral coach."
The "hearse" has been custom painted to keep in the tradition of
D.A.R.E. vehicles. From the graphics to the custom wheels, this
vehicle is set apart from all others. Even when sitting idle,
unoccupied and parked, most observers are caught up in its
presence. Wherever the vehicle has been, it has typically attracted
curious onlookers. Comments from the curious have been"across
the board."
• The vehicle was donated to the Tigard Police after Chief
Goodpaster made an inquiry about such a program. The vehicle has
sparked conversation within minutes of being placed in action. The
vehicle sends a"strong" message to children and adults alike. The
Department felt it important to do"whatever it takes" to warn of the
dangers and serious implications of drugs, alcohol and violence.
Contact this agency if you would like to preview the vehicle.
