It is the second year Tigard has received this national recognition. The Tree Cit USA program is sponsored b the National Arbor Da Foundation in Y p 9 p Y Y cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service. To become a Tree City USA, a community must meet four standards: have a Tree Board and/or a forestry department, a tree care ordinance, a comprehensive communityforest program and an Arbor Da observance. forestry p 9 Y "Trees in our cities and towns help clean the air, conserve soil and water, moderate temperature and bring nature into our daily lives," said John Rosenow, president of The National Arbor Day Foundation.
