(Historic House Destroyed by Fire)
An early Thursday morning fire gutted a vacant house at 13360 SW Hall Street in Tigard.
Investigators are calling the blaze suspicious. A Tigard Police officer reported the blaze at 4:10
a.m. When firefighters from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue's Station 51 arrived at 4:14 a.m.,
they found flames and heavy smoke coming from three sides and both floors of the two-story
house. Firefighters fought the flames for about 20-minutes before bringing the blaze under
control.
Tigard Police detectives have identified two persons of interest who were located in the
area of the fire immediately after it was discovered. Both men are cooperating. Investigators
from Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue are working to determine the exact cause of the fire. If
you have information regarding this fire, you are urged to contact Tigard Police at 503-639-4171.
The 1920s bungalow-styled home was located on the construction site of the new Tigard
Library and was once the home of the Grimstad family who operated a renowned Shetland pony
ranch. The City of Tigard had recently decided to explore options to renovate the house and use
it for community activities and additional meeting space. The home is considered a total loss.
No dollar value has been placed on the damages.
