City of Tigard receives the Government Finance Officers Association
Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada
(GFOA) announced that the City of Tigard has received the GFOA's Distinguished
Budget Presentation Award for its Fiscal Year 2003-04 budget.
The award represents a significant achievement by the City. In order to receive the
award, the City's budget had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective
budget presentation. The budget document must be rated "proficient" in four categories
to receive this award. The budget must serve as a 1. policy document, 2. financial plan,
3. operations guide, and 4. communications device.
"We really appreciate this recognition," said Craig Prosser, City Finance Director. "We
are continually trying to improve the quality of our document so that it serves as a useful
source of information about City services and goals, and is not just a dry list of
numbers."
This is the 15th year the City of Tigard has received this award.
The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association
representing 14,000 government finance professionals throughout North America.
