ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
Tuesday, June 17, 1991
MEMBERS PRESENT: John Savory, Brian Moore
OTHERS PRESENT: Valerie Johnson, Iry Larson, Todd Mains,
Patrick Reilly, Liz Newton
The meeting started at 7:35. There being no quorum to conduct
business, the minutes were not considered.
The future of the committee was the only item of discussion. John
Savory gave his view of the evolution of the committee.
Todd Mains talked about the Chamber Public Affairs Committee and
the issues they are involved in.
Discussion followed about the best way to involve community leaders
in community issues that are worthwhile. Concerns were raised
regarding the business community and the perceived lack of
representation and participation by businesses in community issues.
Consensus was that if the Economic Development Committee is to
continue to meet, they must have a purpose, goals and specific
tasks.
John Savory suggested that the Committee recess until September. At
the September meeting, the Committee will determine if it should
disband or continue and in what function.
The meeting adjourned at 9:00.
