ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

MEMBERS PRESENT: John Savory, Amo DeBernardis, Tony Orlandini,
Paul Etchemendy
OTHERS PRESENT: Sue Steele, Ron Osbourn, S. Carolyn Long, Liz Newton,
John Acker
The meeting started at 7:40 a.m. and the minutes of the June meeting were
approved as written.
Status of developments and proposed developments was presented with discussion
following.
Sue Steele and Ron Osbourne were introduced as operator and owner respectively
of the downtown business Unique Flowers and Gifts. Their interest is in
improving the downtown area to create more of a draw for prospective customers.
John Savory reviewed recent committee discussions concerning methods for
financing specific area improvements (particularly the CBD)
There was an extended discussion concerning existing conditions in the downtown
area and what could be done to improve the situation. The discussion included
what actually makes up "downtown" as far as common interests, what investments
are needed and who should invest in the downtown area.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00.
