ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
Tuesday July 18, 1989
MEMBERS PRESENT: John Savory, Amo DeBernardis, Brian Moore, Bill Monahan,
Tony Orlandini, Paul Etchemendy
OTHERS PRESENT: John Acker
The meeting was called to order at 7:40 a.m. and the minutes of the June
meeting were approved without modification.
New members, Paul Etchemendy and Tony Orlandini, were welcomed to the committee
and introductions were exchanged. Paul operates an aviation training school at
Hillsboro Airport and is the manager of the Port of Portland's new Mulino
Airport. Tony, who has previous experience on the EDC, is the manager of
Northern Yards, a building material supplier.
Current developments of interest include Trammel Crow office bldg., Embassy
Center office bldg. , and Pactrust development phase I as well as several
residential developments. A discussion of density ensued with a focus on
numbers of residences as related to road capacity.
The comprehensive plan amendment to change the alignment of the Ash Street
extension was discussed because of the possibility that businesses or
residences will be displaced. This change was proposed to improve access to the
downtown area. It was pointed out that a final alignment Would be determined if
and when the project is done. If any buildings will be removed, their locations
would be determined then.
Bill outlined the philosophy and functioning of the EDC for the new members.
The committee discussed topics of interest to the EDC including development in
the Tigard Triangle, the Ambassador program, periodic review of the
comprehensive plan, and the Trammel Crow and City Center urban renewal
proposals.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00.
