I observed the subgrade to primarily consist of brown silt. One area, as shown on the site plan,appeared to be primarily rock fill consisting of 4"-0 crushed rock. Strauss crew believed it to be structural fill placed and compacted by the earthwork contractor NEI. Using a Y2" diameter steel foundation rod I probed the exposed subgrade. Subgrade appeared to be medium stiff to stiff and dense respectively. I observed loose rock on the surface of the rock area; we recommend this layer to be compacted prior to pouring. I also observed standing water and silt slough in footing areas;we recommend any standing water and/or slough be removed prior to pouring. Based on our observation and probing,the building foundation subgrade for lots 195 and 196 observed today and indicated on the attached site plan have been prepared in general accordance with our geotechnical recommendations.
