This is a Fire and Life Safety Plan Review and is based on the
1988 editions of the Uniform Fire Code (UFC) and those sections
of the Uniform Building Code (UBC) and Uniform Mechanical Code
([TMC) specifically referencing the fire department, and other
local ordinances and regulations.
Plans are conditioially approved subject to Tigard Building
Department requirements and the following items:

'This letter is a follow-up of our telephone conversation of April
27, 1992, regarding the above referenced property.
In a letter to a No. Mary Monnat dated April 25, 1990 (please find i
attached) , conditions were outlined for converting the existing
single family residence to a group care facility (SR-3) . All. of tho
those conditions still apply, with the following exceptions:
o Item number 4 - Ia: the entire building is provided with an
approve3 residential fire sprinkler system, the existing doors may
main, however, self-closers and gaskets must be provided.
o Item 6 - If a separate exterior stairway is provided from the
second floor, the existing interior stair may remain as Is. An
approved .uandrail must be provided, and a guardrail must be
provided along the stairwell opening.

11. The basement shall be separated from the remainder of the buil4 ing by
covering the walls and ceiling with 5/8 inch thick type "x" gypsum board
+ (walls which are of masonry or concrete are exempt from this requirement).
There shall. be a door separating the basement from the remainder of the
building, the door shall be a minimum 1 3/4 inch thick solid core wood.
The door. shall be provided with a s-lf-cloni..g device and latching
hardware. 1
12. The basement cin only be used f r light storage purposes. Continued use of
the laundry facilities in acceptable. A minimum 3 foot clear area must be
maintained around the furnace and chimney.
13. The Chimney used for venting the furnace shall be provided with an approved
li.i.er. The furnace shall be provided with combustion a'.r directly from the
outs!.de. The combustion air shall be provided by ducting with an &-ia equal
to 1 square inch for every 1000 BTU input rating of the furnace. one-half
of the area shall be located at the floor and one-half shall be located
at the ceiling.
14. An approved electrically supervised fire alarm and smoke detection system
shall be installed, the alarm shall be capable of being heard throughout
the building. All rooms used for sleeping purposes, hallwayn, stairways
and basement shall be provided with smoke detectors. The cystm shall be
installed in accordance with Article 14 of the Uniform Fire Code.

Inspection department for any additional requirements pertaining to the
