He believed the application of UBC Section 505(e)3 exception B, did not require the extension of the 2 hr. construction beyond the top plate of the wall to the roof decking,. This now poses problems for proper construction of the firewalls in "sector A" (walls in "sector B" will be constructed properly) . Structral members prohibit placement of the wall continuous from floor to roof sheeting. One room on the south side of the south wing, ordinary joist construction was used rather than the glued-up plywood joist. It is my understanding that a dropped ceiling is going to be used in this area which creates a combustible concealed space larger than 50 sq. ft. This area will be too shallow to install sprinklers in. I suggest that the area be subdivided with sheet- rock or some other non-combustible material to compart.menti?e the area in spaces of less than 50 sq. ft. each.
