1.5 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
A. General: Provide installed roofing system that remains watertight; does not permit
passage of water; and resists specified uplift pressures, and exposure to weather
without failure.
B. Material Compatibility: Provide roofing materials that are compatible with one another
under conditions of service and application required, as demonstrated by roofing
manufacture based on testing and field experience.
C. Material Manufacturing: Provide shingle materials with the same stamped production
codes and dates of manufacturing. Do not mix or install materials with different batch
numbers, production dates, and color variations.
D. Mismatched shingles that are installed with different production dates and codes will
be sufficient cause for rejection and will be required to be removed and replaced at
the Contractors expense.
E. FMG Listing:
1. FireNVindstorm Classification. Class 1 A--90.
2. Provide roofing system materials bearing FMG Approval markings on bundle,
package, or container, indicating that materials have been ;,ubject to FMG's
examination and follow-up inspection service.
F. UL Listing:
1. Provide roofing system and components that have been tested for application
and slopes indicated, and are listed by Underwriter's Laboratories (UL) for Class
A external fire exposure.
2. Provide roofing system materials bearing UL Classification markings on bundle,
package, or container, indicating that materials have been subject to UL's
Classification and follow-up inspection service.
3. Provide roofing system that can be installed to comply with Ul requirements for
Fire Classified and Class 90 wind-uplift requirements.
1.6 SUBMITTALS
A. Indicate genera! construction, configurations, jointing methods and locations,
fastening methods and locations, and installation details.
B. Submit Manufacturer's installation instructions under provisions of Section 01300.
C. Provide documentation from materials manufacturer labeling production codes and
dates of the specified materials.
1.7 PRODUCT HANDLING AND STORAGE
A Deliver materials with Manufacturer's label intact and legible, in sealed package with
!I UL labels. Store materials on raised platforms in protected locations to provide
moisture and temperature protection. Do not stack bundles of shingles more than
four (4) feet high.

1.8 WARRANT'
A. Contractor" lrranty.
1. The Conti, ;tor shall provide a written warranty guaranteeing all roofing, root
insulation a d flashing against defects of quality of Work and materials for a
period of twc 12) years from the date of Final Acceptance and shall maintain the
re-roofc' area in watertight condition during this period. The warranty shall be
delivered to the Owner prior to final acceptance of the Work.
B. Manufacturers Warranty:
1. The roofing materials Manufacturer shall provide a written 10 - year warranty
signed by a corporate officer for a limited sum guarantee covering both materials
and installation of the materials and systems specified in this Section. The
limited sure shall be equal to the amount of this roofing Contract.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 ROOFING MATERIALS
A Roofing Shingles: SBS modified bitumen, laminated shingles with 3-M Algae Block,
and able to achieve Class A fire rating.
1. Reinforcing: Polyglass fiber mat reinforcing.
2. Dimensions: 13 '/, - inches x 40-inches (.33 n- .( 1.02 m).
3. Approximate Weight: 275 lbs. (124.74kg) per square
4. As manufactured by: Malarkey, or Approved equal.
5. Color. "Natural Wood" as selected from manufactures nine (9) contemporary
colors supplied by Malarkey Roofing Products.
B. Ridge Shingles: Accessory roofing shingles as manufactured by the same
manufactUrer of the roofing sl singles designed and manufactured for the sole purpose
of hip and ridge installation.
C. Accessory Shingles: Standard 3-tab Asphalt Shingles: ANSI/ASTM D3018 UL Class
A; glass fiber matt base, mineral granule surfaced type; 225 pounds per square,
self-sealing, UL listed for wind resistance type, three (3) tab rectangular 36 inches
wide, 12 inches lol.g, five (5) inches exposure; square type tab, color as selected by
Owner from Manufacturer's full range of colors.
D. Underlayment: ANSI//,STM D226; No. 30 unperforated asphalt saturated felt
E. Self-Adhering Underlayment Rubberized asphalt self-adhering sheet, with high
strength film on one side, minimum 40 mils thick, 36-inch wide rolls.
