Dear Gene Birchill:
__ Tt1it tm&is {lie or
Tigard at 6900 SW Sandbag Road and IM$'W 1l&k I Both aite s involve the pla=nt
of a pmf&Tica'lted(State of Oregon approved)I YX 20'concrete equ4 merit building to house
Nextel's radio transmitting equipment. The City has requested that Nc3ctel obtain approval limn
the Fire Marshall to install a fire suppression system inside the equipment shelter.
During the final site plan review by the City of Tigard Building Depanneit,Robert Posldn
outlined a numbs►of fire code stiindanig that needed to be met prior to the issuance of a building
permit. Since the Nextel shelter is i relatively small equipmesit building,Robert PoWn
recommended that we install at fire suppression system inside the shelta.
Nextel's standard dry system is an FM-2100 Glean Agent SWpre&sion System which is an
envirmimentally acceptable replacemcrit for Halon 1301. This is an automatic fire detottion
system that has ionization,or a combination of ionization and photoelectric smoke detectors, that
when alarmed, will discliarge a gas extinguWung agent into the drIt,er(pleax sea attached
manufacturers specifications and shop drawinp).
Please contact me at (503) 209-9282 if you have arty questions or need any additional
information.
