The details of the proposed retaining wall have been reviewed for wall
heights of three through seven feet. An assumed soil weight of 115
pounds per cubic foot, an assumed angle of internal friction of so -
equals 33.7 degrees, an assumed infinite 1}:1 slope from the top of the
wall with no live load surcharge and an assumed soil concrete friction
factor of 0.5 were used for our review.
Our analysis indicates that stresses are within our normal allowable
values and the proposed wal_1 provides a minimum factor of safety against
sliding and overturning -of 1.5 with one exception. Our analysis indicates
l/ the seven foot high wall should_ have a two fo L dju ._shear kev__Lo_provide

In -order to conform to the Oregon State Highway Division Standards for
Retaining Wall construction the following specifications and details should
be incorporated in the proposed retaining wall -.
✓ -All concrete shall be class 3300-11 inch.

-All reinforcement shall conform to ASTM A615(S1) Grade 60. C r—i� 4�

.-Number 4 bars at 18 inch may.imum centers shall be placed in the
front face of the wall and in the top of the footing.
-Number 4 dowel bars at three foo centers shall extend from the
footing into the front face of the wall and splice one foot- `� �•
zero inches to the vertical front face wall bars.
L/ -In locations where vertical wall bars are cut off three feet
below the top of the wall , the spacing of the remaining
bars shall be no less than 18 inches.
The limits of gravel drain material shall be 18 inch square and the CAEie_�-
perforated pipe shall be an eight inch diameter. The perforated pipe �A _,_@
shall be drained to a catch basin or drained away from the wall in

The wall excavation shall be backfilled with special wall backfill having
a maximum of six ;percent by weight passing the Number 200 sieve. `t-4oTe_ 4-7 )
Contraction joints in the wall only shall be located at 32 feet ± maximum
centers. Contraction joints shall consist of a 3/4 inch V-groove full
height of the exposed face of the wall , across the top and one foot down
the back face. A piece of 3/4 inch plywood shall extend half way
through the wall at the back face from the top of the footing to one foot-
zero inches below the top of the wall . All steel shall be stopped two

A one and one-half inch deep continuous shear key shall be provided between
