A fire and life safety plan review was conducted on the above-
captioned project for compliance with the 1985 editions of the
Uniform Building Code (UBC). Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC) , and
Uniform Fire Code (►JF(;) as amended by Tualatin Rural Fire Protec-
tion District's Ordinance 86-5.
The plans are approved subject to the following conditions.
1 . Glass and Glazing: Glass and englazing located between the
corridor and the reception shall be of 1/4-inch wire glass
set in steel frames. Total surface of glass area in the
cormoon wall between the reception room and the lobby shall
not exceed 25% of the wall area.

2. Hallway Area Located between Managers's Office Adjacent the
Lunchroom, and Accounting Area: If additional walls or
separation is installed in this area, this plan reviewer
would consider that this would become corridor. Where
corridors serve an occupant load of more than 30 people, it
shall. be of not less than 1-hour fire resistive construction
and shall comply with Uniform Building Code Section 3305(8) &
(h) .
3 . Exit Door Hardware: All doors shown on the drawings must
be openable from the inside for immediate exit at all times
without the use of a key, special knowledge, or effort.

4. Type of Construction: Due to the total aggregate size of
this building, it is to be of 1-hour fire resistive
construction. All tenant demising walls, walls, ceiling
materials, etc. shall be of 1-hour systems. Wherever
mechanical systems penetrate ceilings or walls, fire dampers
shall be installed in accordance with the Uniform Building
Code.
5. Firestopping: In all wood-framed walls and partitions, fire-
stopping consisting of 2-inch nominally-sized lumber or
other approved materials must be installed at all floor and
ceiling levels. Penetrations in this prescribed Firestopping
to accommodate wiring, pliunbi.ng, and other similar utility
runs must be packed with noncombustible materials in an
approved manner so as to prevent the passage of flame.

6. Insulation Flame Spread: The insulation, including, breather
papers and vapor barriers which are not in contact with the
upper surface of the ceiling, and under surface of the floor,
as the case may be, must have a flame spread rating of not
to exceed 25 and a smoke development classification of not
greater than 450 as measured on the Steiner Tunnel Test
scale referred to as UBC Standard No. 42-1.

7. Automatic Sprinkler Plans: Plans referred to and examined
by this office contain no provisions for the alteration or
installation of automatic sprinkler system. Not less than
threp sets of plans for the installation snail be submitted
to this office for approval prior to installation.

The structural plans for this project have been reviewed for conformance with
applicable codes. Additional details are required for plumbing and mechanical
aystems, and should be submitted as soon as 7ossible. Upon completion of our
review, we will be able to issue permits for this project.
The interior partitions in this project are required to be one-hour
fire-resistive construction. This may bc achieved by using .5/8 inch type "X"
gvpsum wallboard instead of the non-fire' rated gypsum wall board specified on
the project plans.
The computed occupant load of the tenant space is 68, based on 100 square feet
per occupant for the office area and 1.5 square feet per occupant for the
conference room. This triggers a requirement for. 20-minute rated doors. The
review from the fire district will more fully explain the options to meet this
requirement.

length. the separation of exits reduces also. An alternate material
and method acceptable by this fire district would be to install
