Identification of each item that was included in our survey . �) MMARY OF NON-COMPYING ITEMS The present built-up curb ramp hasno edge protection to keel; a wheelchair from falling off the _edge . Ramps and landings with drop-offs shall have curbs , walls , railings , or projecting projecting surfaces that prevent people from slipping off the ramp . Curb: shall be a minimum of 2 inches high . It a curb ramp is located where pedestrians must walk across it , or where it is not protected by handrails , it shall have flared sides . The flared sides . or side beveling , of the curb ramp Exceeds the ADA Guidelines . It is 296 as opposed to the guideline of 10% maximum for that part of the ramp . The curb ramp extends into the H . C . parking space and is blocked by any car using this space . The curb ramp has no handrails . It is 84 inches ( 7 ft ) long . If a ramp has a horizontal rise of more than 6 inches or a horizontal projection greater than 72 inches , then it shall have handrails on both sides . The new H . C . parking space will need an OUT H . C . paKLI ng sign and "van accessible " designation sign . There presently is no H . C . access aisle . Please see attached diagram of ODT approved , single handicapped parking space and access aisle . The curb ramp does not have the detectable warninqs that are part of the ADA guide lines . Door closure adjustment is necessary to comply . If the two telephones located on sidewalk irmnediately in front of store are are controlled by Plaid Pantry then these phones should be brought up to ADA standards by Plaid Pantry . The highest operaple part of the telephone is 55 " from the sidewalk which violates the maximum height of 48 " for a front approach and 54 " from a side approach . To request changes contact the private telephone company that controls these phones . GUIDELINES FOR MODIFICATIONS 1 . Provide correct H . C . par-king space , access aisle , and signage . 2 . Provide correct detectable warnings . 3 . Adjust required door opening required force to within ADA guidelines of 8 . 5 ft/ lbs . 4 . Provide correct side slope to present curb ramp to within the 10% max as per ADA guidelines . 5 . Install edge protection and/or railings to present ramp . 6 . Bring telephones up to ADA guidelines if they are controlled by Plaid Pantry . SUGGESTIONS There is no officially recognized enforcement procedure to keep unauthorized people from using the H . C . parking space . Providing the managers of the stores with appropriate phone numbers and instruction would be beneficial .
