Dear. Mr. Slate,
This letter is in reference to our meeting of October 13, 1988 a: the above
location.
The purpose of our meeting was to diacuss the building code requirements for
the auto-repair shop located within the building.
The following requirements were noted:
1.) The two interior openings through the concrete wall separating the repair
shop from the office and warehouse shall. be provided with 1. hour rated
self-closing, firedoors.
2. ) The frPmed and sheetrocked wall between the repair shop and storage area
shall have all joints taped and holes repaired.
3. ) Two exit doors are required from the shop area. As discussed, the
overhead door opening to the rear of the building are not considered legal
exit doors, however the installation of a hinged swinging door, in the
overhead doors minimum clear width of 32 inches (minimum 3 feet wide by 6
feet 8 inches high) would be acceptable exit doors. The maximum threshold
height allowable on the doors is 1 inch.
Since the exit doors would open onto the loading, docks, a stairway will be
required down to the ground. The stairs will require the fol.i.owing:
o A maximum of 7 inch rise on each stair tread.
o A minimum of 11 inch run on each stair tread.
o A handrail shall be provi:'.ed on each side of the stairway at a
point 30 to 34 inches above the hosing of the tread. The handrail
shall have a minimum width of 1 1/2 inches and a maximum width of
2 inches.

4.) A mechanical vented exhaust hose for the vehicle exhaust shall be
provided, which you stated was or order.
