FILL deposition, overtopping the original lowland, was noted to
progressively vary in depth, from 4 to 7 feet. Soil character
was found to be notably simular over the entire area encompassing
both LOTS. Subsurface exposure was accomplished at eleven loca—
tions ; positioned at the perimeter of both proposed Residences.
These are indicated on the attached SITE PLAN.
The FILL soil was identified as fine-grained CLAYEY—SILT' appar—
ently placed by spreading over the site in layers, compacted by
traverse of truck and dozer equipment. Density of the FILL was
rated by resistance to penetration of a V2 ir. 7h diameter steel.
rod. The FILL was determined to be rated at 1800 Lbs./Sq. Ft.
for structure load haring. By comparison with similar teat,
native soil was found to possess lesser density, (rated at 1200
1500 PSF) essentially due to higher moisture content than the
FILL.
It is particularly significant that the site, by virtue of the
excellent FILL, now presents foundation stratum well above any
possible Flood Plain that might occur on the lowland area.
Structure footings may be founded on the FILL soil at minimum
depth, consistent with Code requirements for frost protection.
Assuming Residence foundation to entail 24" — 30" perimeter
walls (8" thi^k) on continuous spread footing (6"x15") , steel
rod reinforcement is suggested:
One 44 continuous in footing.
Two 44 horizontal in wall.
44 Verticals ej 4 ft. spacing.
