Dear. Mr. Robinson,
This letter is response to your request to re-classify the
occupancy of the above referenced building, from an E-3
(educatio-al) , to an A-3 (assembly) . The request is approved. The
uses outl,.,►ed in your letter are clearly assembly type.
The A-3 occupancy is subject to several items:
o The north exterior wall, which is less than 20 feet from the
property line, is required to be of one-hour fire resistive
construction. A previous review of this wall has shown that the
exterior of the wall must be covered with a 1/2 inch thick gypsum
sheathing (under an exterior siding) in order to comply with this
regulation.
o The maximum occupant load of this space cannot exceed 49 persons.
o Locking devices on exits doors E .;all be openable from the inside
without the use of a key, special knowledge or effort. The
unlatching of any exit door shall not require more than one
operation.
o Fire extinquishers shall be provided as required by the Fire
Department.

Recntly our church purchased a piece of property that
adjoins the church. This property included a house listed
under n-3 occupancy. A change of occupancy from Residential
to Educational (R to E) was applied for and granted by the
City of Tigard Building Department with conditions.
Since that time, we have become aware that the restrictions
of this E occupancy do not apply most consistently with it's
intended use. It's intended use would likely include those
listed below:
committee meetings fellowship activities
volunteer group meetings singles group
support groups retirees group
mom's groups clerical activities
meal prep Dn clean-up day folding, stapling,
meal prep for the needy sorting, designing
church :social activities programs, etc
holiday gatherings mutual ministry meetings
Thanksgiving dinner one hour per week--adults
Halloween parties and children--Sunday School
holiday events Library room
church service game room
coffee hour AA meetings
Scouts dances
quilting groups men's groups
All of the above use would be for less than 50 people--
or under the occupancy .limit, whichever is most restrictive.

Dear Mr. Winn:
This is a Fire and Life Safety Plan Review and is based on the
1988 editions cf the Uniform Fire Code (UFC) and those sections
of the Uniform Building Code (UBC) and Uniform Mechanical Code
(UMC) specifically referencing the fire department, and other
local ordinances and regulations.
Plans are conditionally approved subject to the City of Tigard
Building Department requirements and the following .items:
11 Address Required: The tenant space number must be
prominently displayed on the street front where it is
readily visible to drivers and officers of responding
fire apparatus and other emergency vehicles. UFC
Sec. 10 .208
2 . Fire Extinguisher Requirements: Not less than one
(1) approved fire extinguisher(s) with a rating of
r: not less than ( -;,) shall be provided for each (**)
square foot of floor area or fraction thereof. The
travel distance to an extinguisher from any portion
of the building shall not exceed 75 feet. UFC Sec.
10.303

Dear Mr. Enninga:
The plans for this project were reviewed for conformity with applicable
codes and are conditionally approved. This permit is issued for the work
being done on the entry stairways and landings only. Conversion of the
building use from residential is still subject to City of Tigard Planning
Division approval.
Changes to the building mechanical or plumbing systems will require plans
and separate permits. You may get the building permit for the prcject at
your convenience. If you have questions, or if we may be of assistance,
