Mr. Shaw indicated he is concerned you may have an improperly installed wood :.tove. Apparently you have a factory built zero ("0") clearance fireplace with a wood stove v-nted into it. At this time the State Code states that solid fuel burning appliances shall not be installed in or vented into a pre- fabricated factory built "0" clearance type fireplace unless the manufacturer's instructions specifically approves this type use. If in fact this is your situation without the manufacturer's approval , the chances are good you will have a fire of undesirable consevuences. Tualatin Fire District also is very concerned about proper installation and use of wood stove. For the insursd safety of yourself and others, it is my urgent recommendation that you have your wood stove 'nstallation inspected and approved. Our office provides a free courtesy wood stove inspection or you may contact the City of Tigard Building Department.
