RE: Single Family Dwelling at 15025 S.W. 92nd A:re. li.gard, Oregon.
Permit No. 3536 dated January 14, 1981. Occupancy Permit issued
3/16/81. Building constructed by Mr. Tom M.�_ller.
This office was r,-quested by the owner's representatiire to make an inspection
of the garage walls and roof area of the above referenced building.
The inspection was made in the A.M. of 3/25/82 Ly h.T. Walden, Building
Official and Brad Roast, Field Inspector.
This inspection was made to check the structural and fire safety of the
structure. The follow .ng was found:
1. The garage wall opposite the overhead door showed some reflection at-
the top plate, approximately three-quarters of an inch out of plane
over the twenty-two font length. This wall carries the roof load.
2. The roof spans approximately thirty-two feet ane is supported by
strong backs in about eight feet from each supporting wall. By
sighting along the roof plbne it by peered that the roof had a small
sag in both the front and rear. elevations. It was estimated that the
sag was approximately one to one and one-half inch from a flat plane.
3. 'ec. 2518(h)4 of the building code required that rafters, when no
parallel to ceiling joists, have ties of a minimum one by four inches
spaced not more than four feet on center. It was noted that the
garage area inspected had three required ties. Based on the above a
minimum of four ties are required.
It is the opinion of the Building Official that this structure meets all
minimum requirements for structural safety with the exception of the missing
tie at the base of the rafters.
It was noted that the fire wall between the garage and living section of
building wap in place and meets the minimum requirements of toe buildirg code.
Mr. Tom Miller, the builder of the structure was contacted by this office and
informed of this inspection c. the findings. he stated that he would
immediately make all required corrections at any time the present owner would
permit him to do so.
