that no improvements have been made; therefore, we
must now insist that AI_L corrections be accomplished
by May 5, 1984.
Ciscontinue the use of unapproved electric wiring
in the basement & on the first floor , and provide and maintain
approved permanent wiring in accordance with the
National Electrical Code. (NEC 400-8)
Provide and maintain approved cover plates on all electrical
outlets and switches. Specific reference is r1adt -to
the main floor and basement. (NEC 370-15)
Repair the walls as necessary to maintain the required one
hour fire—resistive construction throughout the build

The following items were inspected and discussed:
( 1 ) Concrete stair and !,pper entry slab (see details IT and K"9"\) :

a) Since REDDICK BRUN Architects and Don Kramer were not notified
prior to pouring of concrete, and therefore did not make an
inspection of forms and steel in place, these decisions are based
upon Bryan's inspection prior to pouring, and Sam Gotter's
observations.
b) Kramer said the compacted fill under the stair is not critical
since the treads were designed as a structural slab.
c) Keys that were omitted at brick and slab -- partially compensa;-ed
for by "key action" of roughness of brick.
d) However, where keys were omitted at slab and concrete wail ,
bearing and shear is dependent entirely upon the steel .
e) At the upper slab, where steel N5--I were omitted as ties from
brick wall into the concrete, deflection may be a serious
problem. Don Kramer directed Sam Gotter and the concrete sub-
contractor to leave the shoring in until the slab has cured; then
remove and replace with a couple of shoring posts about }" too
short; then test load the slab by having as many people as
possible stand on the slab, and the engineer observe the deflec-
tion. At that time, it should be possible for ;he engineer to
determine whether or not the slab is adequate.

(2) Since Bryan will not approve -the slab and steps as built because they
deviate from the plans, he needs a letter confirming the above
decisions. Don Kramer will write a letter, stating his approval
of structural adequacy, based on Jim Bryan vouching for the steel
that is in place.
(3) The trusses at roof that do not contact roof sheathing:
a) Dori Kramer directed the General Contractor to install additional
lateral bracing at the upper chord, so that bracing occurs
at 4'0" C-C max.
(4) Steel beam supporting trus-joist floor system:
a) Don Kramer directed the General Contractor to connect wood
plate to steel beam with f" M.B. as shown in drawings at
210" O.C. , instead of 3/8" diameter bolts.
