Dear Mr. Cone:
This is a Fire and Life Safety Plan Review and is based on the 1.988
editions of the Fire and Life Safety Cole (UBC) , Mechanical. Fire
and Life Safety Cour (UMC) , Uniform Fire Code (UFC) , and other
local ordinances and regulations .
Plans are conditionally approved subject to the following items:
1 . Eaves : Where eaves are located within location of
property lines where window protection is required, eaves
shall be not less than one hour fire resistive
construction. This Plans Examiner would suggest cutting
off the eave line adjacent the exterior wall, located
parallel_ to the property line, and placing a gutter along
the wall .
2 . Address Required: The tenant space number must be
prominently displayed on the street front where it is
readily visible to drivers and officers of responding
fire apparatus and other emergency vehicles . UFC Sec .

3 . Fire Extinguisher- Regui ed_ A fire extinguisher having
a minimum rating of 2Al0a:C must be placed in an
accessible location within plain view. UFC Sec .

4 . Firestoppi.ng: In all wood framed walls and partitions,
firestopping conoisting of 2-inch nominally-sized lumber
or other approved materials must be installed at all
floor and ceiling levels . Penetrations in this
prescribed fir-estopping to accommodate wiring, plumbing,

and other similar utility .runs must be packed with
noncomLustibl.e materials in an approved manner so as to
prevent the passage of flame. UBC Sec . 2516
5 . Exterior Exit Door: Hardwart ! or the extE:rior doors and
key operated deadlocks may be permitted where there is
a sign posted on or over the door reading, "THIS DOOR
MUST REMAIN UNLOCKED DURING BUSINESS HOURS" in letters
not less than one-inch :i.n height on a contrasting

6 . APP-1--oved Plans on Job Site: One set of approved plans
bearing the stamps of the building department issuing the
construction permit and this office must be maintained
on the project site throughout all phasc!s of construction
and must be made avail.abL? to br..ilding and fire
