About two weeks ago, Mr Tony Caragol from Truss—T Structures, Inc
came to your office to purchase a building permit and State fire marshall
plans review. lie paid you for both, and reported the amount back to me.
Because I was not in the area at the time the building permit was
needed, I asked fir. Caragol to buy the permits and I would rr_—imburss
him. He did not know the actual total value on th:) building project, as
his company is a sub—contractor on the job, so he used a, old estimate
we had talked about, which was considnrnbly highor than the actual
figures.
The result was expensive. I am writing to give you the correct
figures that should have been unied to calculate the cost of the building
permit and the other associated fees. The same amount for the State fire
marshall plans roviesd. I would be most grateful if you Idcu]d refund the
overpayment to Truss—T Structures or to Country Development Corp. Either
company can then adjust to the other.
Actual cost of the completed buildings, fences, paving for parking,
and gates is $174,612.00. The amount Mr. Caragol thought it was, and
what he used as a base for permits# etc. was $3501000.009 which resulted
in an excessive payment.
If you would calculate the cost of the fees and permits uning $174,612
and refund the difference as requested above# I would be grateful.

Plan-checking Fees
(b) The fee for examining plans and specifications sub-
mitted to the administrator under section 301 (c) of this Code
or QRS 478.155 shall he the same as the fee prescribed for a
permit under subsection (a) of this section. However, If the
valuation of the proposed structure or installation exceeds
$1,000, the fee shall be one-half the amount of the prescribed
permit fee.
A municipality shall not, for the kind of permits pro-
vided for by subsection (a) of this section, enact or enforce any
ordinance, rule or regulation fixing any permit fee that is
higher than the maximum fee provided by this section unless
the municipality has the prior approval of the director to do so.
The director shall approve any such fee or fees if he finds, after
notice and hearing, that the proposed fee or fees are reasonable
and necessary to provide funds for the municipality to pay for
the expenses of carrying out effective enforcement of the speclnl-
ty code or codes that are its responsibility to enforce.

framing. See 1873 State Structural Specialty Code, Sections 3304(h) and 4308.
f,. Storage rooms, closets, laboratories, shops and areas of similar hazard require separation from other areas by at
least ane-hour fire resistive construction. Furnace and boiler rooms require one-hour fire resistive construction.
7. All vertical openings such as stairways, trash chutes, etc., require full enclosure of ( 1-hour) ( 2-hour) fire re-
sistance. Access ways to such shafts require self-closing and latching Class B fire door assemblies ( 1-hcnn rated)
( I%-hour rated).
8. Attic areas require draft barriers as per Sec. 3205, not exceeding each 3,000 square feet. (9,000 square feet where
sprinkler protection provided,) ,
9. Voids created by culling-floor systems require draft barn^r8 not exceeding each 1,000 square feet.
10. Building projections such as balconies, eaves, overhangs, etc., require fire protection as per 1973 State Structural
Specialty Code, Section 1710.
