Dear Bob:
At your request, I met with you on December 15, 1978 to inspect
the cracked foundation wall at the residence at the address
above. At that time you gave me the following information
about the wall:
1. The 8" wall had been poured around June 13, 1978
and allowed to cure for approximately five (5)
weeks before backfilling began.
2. Drain tile had been installed and drained to the creek.
at the rear of the house.
3. Granular material had been used as wall backfill , (the
garage Bleb has been poured over this backfill) .
4. The backfill material had been installed by a cat which
pushed the rock into the wall. The wall cracked at
this time, probaEy due to excess horizontal thrust
caused by the cat rather than shrinkage, improper
backfill material or water buildup.
Therefore, our design intends to provide strength across the
cracks, to stop any furthrr inward movement of the wall as thc
