Dear Brad Roast:
Thank you for your letter re. Building Permit #4012: I have checked my
records since receiving it and realize I have goofed. I'm sorry but I
didn't realize that the last inspection with you was the framing. I guess
I just didn't think about it as I gradually got things going.
When you inquired the status of the construction from me, I figured I was
far enough along not to have to worry about the permit becoming void. I
have done most of the work myself., with help from friends, and had heard
that was okay without a permit.
Actually after checking back thru my records, I find that the last
inspection was with the State of Oregon when the wiring was approved before
I put in the insulation. I will call them to make the final inspection on
the elec ical work, which has been completed.
As I said, I don't anticipate completion of the addition in the foreseeable
future. I don't know when it will get done.
I have receipts to show the kind of insulation that I used if that would be
of any help (Ceiling - R29 batt, Walls R-11 Batt) . I used Ti 11 for 2 of
the inside wails, and the other 4 walls are still unf=inished, having the
original outside :.hakes on them. I have filled in places along those walls
with shakes temporarily, until final walls are put in. The ceiling has
sheet rock textured. Under the carpet I have particle board.
When I said there had been no further progress, I was thinking, - not since
the framing but since the wiring, insulation, ceiling, floors, and some
finished walls.
The incomplete status of the room includes: 4 walls to be finished with
paneling or plastering; all windows and sliding patio d,ior to be finished
with casings/framing; the old kitchen window to be made into a wall or made
into a "bar"; the old den window to be made into a wall ; ceiling molding
and base board molding to be put on 4 walls.; and the opening from the old
house to the new addition (via the 2 den v.indows which were removed) to be
framed in and finished with doors of some sort.
I am sorry for the problem and hope this letter helps clearify the status
of the addition in question. Please call me if any questions.
