Nimbus Avenue Regarding our discussion of January 27, 1982, concerning plans for the alteration of the referred-to building to accommodate the above-named tenant, we are listing as follow,- those requirements which must be observed during the course of construction to meet currently applicable fire safety regulations and for which we found no provisions in the submitted drawings. 1 . Access penetrations through the two-hour fire-resistive area 1 separation wall (located along column line no. 3 on the original building plans) must be protectLd ty self-closing and latching fire door assemblies having a rated and labeled (Class B) fire tr resistance of not less than 1-1/2 hours. The term assembly in- cludes the door, door frame, hinges, architectural finish hardware, etc. Glazed openings, if any, must be factory in:i.alled and must consist of wired glass not exceeding 100 square inches in area with no dimension being less than 4 inches. (ref: Sec. 505 and 4306 U.B.C. ) f 2. In all wood-framed walls and partitions firestci!ping consisting of 2-inch (nominal ) lumber, gypsum plasterboard or equivalent material is required at all floor and ceiling lines and at maxi- mum vertical and horizontal intervals of 10 feet wnere ceiling lines are located more than 10 feet above the floor or in the case of double stud walls and partitions. Penetrations made in this prescribed firestopping to accommodate wiring, plumbing, duct work and similar utility runs must be packed in a manner which will effectively maintain the integrity of the firestopping and cut off all concealed draft openings which could afford a passage for flame. All doors shown on the submitted drawing must be openable from the "inside" at all times for immediate exit without the use of a key, special knowledge or effort. " (ref: Sec. 3303 U.B.C. ) 4. Inspection and approval of construction by this office is required: a) prior to the cover of any wood framing following the instal- lation of the utility runs and firestopping prescribed in requirement no. 2. b) upon completion of construction and prior to the occupancy of the project space. (ref: Sec. 305 U.B.C. ) 5. One set of approved plans gearing the stamps of the Tigard Building Department and this office must be maintained on the project site throughout all phases of construction and msut be made available to building and fire inspectors for reference during required construc- tion inspections. (ref: Sec. 303 U.B.C. ) 6. Prior to the occupancy of the project space, a final inspection and Certificate of Occupancy must be obtained from the Tigard Building Department. (ref: Sec. 307 U.B.C. ) Subject to the foregoing stipulations, your plans are hereby approved. The reference note which follows each requirement refers to the applicable section of the Uniform Building Code (1979 edition) an adopted regulation of this jurisdiction.
