(UBC) , Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC) , and the Uniform Fire Code (UFC) , as

1. Fire Extinguisher Requirements: Noc less than one (1) approved fire
extinguisher(s) with rating of not less than 2AlOB:C shall be
provided for each 1,500 square feet of floor area or fraction
thereof. The travel. distance to an extinguisher from any portion of
the building shall not exceed 75 feet. UFC Standard 10-1
2. Corridor Protection: The new door adjacent the stairway entry,
opening in,o the tenant space, shall be of not less than 20 minute
self or automatic closing fire assembly (frame, door & hardware) and
shall be equipped with smoke gaskets.
3. ,approved Plans on Job Site: One set of approved plans bearing the
stamps of the Tigard Building Department and this office must be
maintained on the project. site Lhroughout all phases of construction
and must be made available to building and fire inspectors fcr

4 . Inspections Required: Inspection and approval of coritruction by a
representative of this office is required: (a) prior to the cover of
any new framing elements following the installation of all utility
runs which will be concealed within wall and partition cavities; (b)
upon completion of construction and prior to occupancy of the tenant

A fire and life safety plan review was conducted on the above-
captioned r,roject for compliance with the 1985 editions of the

Uniform Fire Code (UFC) as amended by Washington County Fire
District No. 1's Ordinance 86-1.
The plaris are approved subject to the following.
1. Corridor Doors: Door #9 shall be not less than 20-minute
self-closing fire resistive assembly with the frame equipped
with smoke gasketing.
(UBC Sec. 3305(h))
2. Occupant Loading: As none of the spaces in this plan were
.labeled as to use, it is assumed by this plan reviewer that
all of the space is off.ico area or storage area calculated at
100 square foot. per person or for storage areas with 300
square feet per person. This gives a total occupant load for
this space of less than 30.
However, if one of these spaces is used for a conference
room, that room shall be calculated at 15 square feet per
person which could produce an occupant load that would exceed
30. That occupant Load number would require the inner
corridor of the office space to be of 1-hour fire resistive
construction and openings equipped with self or automatic
closing fire door assemblies having a 20-minute rating and
having frames equipped with smoke gaskets.

The 1-hour construction and 20•-minute fire door assemblies
may be traded off for installation of supeiv.,ed smoke
detectors through the corridor system.

Also, if the occupancy exceeds 30 then two exits are required*
from this space. That has been shown; however room 212 would
become part of a corridor and therefore cannot be used for
other than exiting purposes.
3. Automatic Sprinkler Plans: Plans referred to and examined
by this office contain no provisions for the alteration or
installation of automatic sprinkler system. Not less than
three set's of plans for the installation shall be submitted
to this office for approval prior to installation.

4. Exit Door Hardware: All doors shown on the drawings must
be openable from the inside for immediate exit at all times
withouL the use of a key, special knowledge, or effort.

5. Firestoppictg: In all wood-framed walls and partitions, fire-
stopping consisting of 2-inch nominally-sized lumber or
other approved materials must be installed at all floor and
ceiling levels. Penetrations in this prescribed firestopping
to accommodate wiring, plumbing, anti other similar utility
runs must be packed with noncombustible materials in an
approved manner so as to prevent the passage of flame.
