This is a Fire and Life Safety Plan Review and is based on
the 1985 editions of the Fire and Life Safety Code ,LBC ) ,
Mechanical Fire arid Life Safety Code (UMC ) , Uniforrc Fire
Code (UFC ) , and other local ordinances and regulat!.cns.
An automatic sprinkler head shall he added in the vlenum
area.
The automatic_ sprinkler head shown in the du-* -'-all be
located at the roof line. If not piped off of a dry pipe
-ystem, it shall be a dry pend�:,nt type head.
An indicating control valve shall be installed in the
supply piping to automatic sprinkler heads. This valve
shall be within 5-feet of the floor.
Pipe supplying automatic sprinkler heads shall be sized and
supplied by piping sized for extra hazard njith all. heads
flowing at the same time in the booth plenum and duct.
A of 3-feet shall be maintained around the spray
bcoth sirles and rear.
The spray equipment shall be interlocked with the exhaust
fan so that spraying cannot take place unless the exhaust
fan is turned on.
Electrical shall compltj with the Electrical Code. Class 1
Division I in the spray booth. Class 1 Division II uithin
5-feet from the opening of the bcoth.

3. All living units required to be completely separated by one-hour fire resistive construction.
4. Exit corridors regtdre separation from any other area by one-hour fire resistive construction.
5. Door assemblies of interior openings to corridors are required to have a fire resistance rating of not less than 20
m nutes and must be self-closing or automatic.-closing. Relights in corridors require wired glass set in fixed (steel)
fadming. See 1973 State Structural Sperlalty Code, Sections 3304(h) and 4300.
0. Storage rooms, closets, laboratories, shops and areas of similar hnaoid require sepuration from Ther areas by at
least one-hour fire resistive construction. Furnace and boiler rooms requh v one-hour fire resistive construction,

10. Building projections such as balconies, eaves, overhangs, etc., require fire protection as per 1973 State Structural
Specialty Code, Section 1710.
11. Fire stops, blocking or framing members pierced for utility runs require packing to equal fire resistance prior to such
pleteing. Wood me construction requires firestopping of bot'., vertical and horizontal draft openings as maxi+num
intervals of t0 fleet.
12. Corridors require at least 8 feet In clear width. Drinking fountains or other equipment may not operate in a man-
ner which would obstruct the minimum 8-foot width.
13. Corridors serving patient bedroome require at least 8 feet in width.
14. Corridors require smoke barrier partitions with doors at 150•foot intea vals.
15. Exit doors from lobbies, corridors and rooms with potential occupancies of 50 or more are 7equlred to swing in the
directior of exit travel.
10. Exit doors from lobbler, corridors and assembly areas require panic hardware.

vious melhod of operation. Flush bolt- other than listed automatic are not acceptable.

19. Sleeping rooms require at least one window readily openable from Inside without special tools and providing a
clear opening of not less than 720 square Inches with the least dimension not less thin 22 laches. Maximum per-
mitted height to bottom of opening from floor Is 48 Inches. (Ref: See. 1304)
20. Surface flame spread .-ales of walls and ceilings, minimum requirement: stairway-25, corridors--75, other rooms
--226 (See. 4203)
21. Combustible acoustical material required to he secured with staples or equivalent metallic holders of a heat resist-
ant adhesive capable of withstanding 1000°F. for vie.—half hour.
89. All curtains, drapes end similar furnishings are required to be noncombustible or rendered and maintained flame-
proof.

23. With standard spacing, rows of seats between aisle:. !nay not exceed 14. Rows of seats opening ontn aisles at one
end only may not exceed 7 seats. Also see continem al spacing, Sec. 3313-3314.
24. Standard seat row spacing must provtle it space of at least 14, inches from the back of one seat to the front of
the most forward projection of the seat Immediately benard.
23. Posting of capacity of assembly areas as noted is required by State Structural Code, Sec. 3301(j).

plenums.
27. A dust collection system is required for shop areas for nonportable machines emitting or producing dusts. (Ref: See,
1008) Dust collection equipment to be located outside of building or in one-hour separated room equipped with
automntic sprinklers.
k--". A.S M.E. approved pressure relief valves are required for all wat•>_r heaters, Installed either in separate water tank
port. or In port for hot water line. Shutoff valves may not be located between a water tank and relief valve

36. All exit doors and acce3s ways thereto Are required to be identified by approved electrically Illuminated signs served
by two circuits with cne separate from all other circuits. (Sec. 3312.)
37. An emergency power system Is required for the ( ) gymnasium ( ) auditorium ( ) building to maintain exit
Illumination for not less than one-half hour in event of public utility failure.
38. Fluorescent light fixtares installed on combustible surfaces are required to be U.L., Inc., approved for such mount-
ing, or installed to provide at least 1% inch air space between the fixture housing and combustible material.
39. Conformance with all requirements for the removal of architectural barn=.•s to the handicapped is required. See
applicable parts of 5973 State Structural Safety Code, Sections 1711, 1712, 1713, 3302, 3303, 3305, and 3308 and Table
