Thunderbird 11334 SW Cottonwood Lane Tigard OR 97223 Dear Mr. & Mrs. Thunderbird: Following your request for an on-site inspection of ground subsidence in your back yard at the above address, we found that the earth under the swimming pool deck has settled in some places as much as five or six inches. Also, next to the patio wall in front of the rear door there s settlement causing a pooling of water from sprinklers or rain. The cause of: the above described earth settlement is probably due to soil shrinkage or displacement from subsurface water movement. Since soil displaced by water movement was not apparent by new deposits where the water drains to the street, it is our opinion that the fill around the pool area and back yard area is due to water causing settlement in a filled area. You stated that your neighbor to the rear of your lot had made some rock fills in his back yard and that this might be causing some of your problem. We could not see any evidence of this and it would be very difficult to prove:. W!- did no note any code violations ur hazardous conditions.
