retaining walls stepping the grade down. After speaking with Setierr Dimke (GeoDesign), it is our opinion that there is
a low risk in pouring the slab as it is. It is recommended that prior to any loading on the slab the adjacent slope be
filled to an average slope of 2H:1V (horizontal: vertical) or flatter.
Observed Damage GeoGrid- Lot 72 Retaining Wall
While onsite, crews directed me to a section of geogrid that had been damaged during trench construction. Crews
had damaged the top layer of the geogrid. The section damaged is approximately 10' in length. The exposed wall
height in the location is approximately 5' and the trench behind ranges from approximately 2.5' to 4' depth from
east to west. There appears to be approximately 2.5' to 3' of undamaged geogrid and backfill directly adjacent to
the wall (see images below). GeoDesign will confirm the numbers, but it is our preliminary opinion that damaged
geogrid will need to be removed and replaced back to its original condition.
