Good afternoon, Dan.
Thank you for alerting me to the absence of clear code path to the 'Type IIIA' construction type we listed in the permit
document package submitted to the City of Tigard for Building Review on 1/26/2016.
First, you are correct...something is amiss. Looking back on our notes the intent was to file the tenant improvement as a
'Type IIIB' construction type. I believe we may have had some internal confusion since the existing building is fully
sprinklered.
However, that doesn't really bear on your comment on the OSSC Table 601 exterior wall rating issue. But it did get me to
focus on the code intent in that table and remember that the language is 'Bearing Wall', not just wall.The Operations
and Maintenance Building does not have any bearing walls (exterior or interior).All structure is in columns that are
interior of the exterior walls.
So the code sheet should have noted that the 2 hour rating is not applicable since there are no exterior bearing wall in
the building. What do I need to do to rectify this now?
