Youth Advisory Council - Minutes
MEETING DATE/TIME: September 29 at 5:00 p.m.

1. CALL TO ORDER—5:03 P.M.
2. ROLL CALL
In attendance: Adam LaFountain, Zahra Hashmat, Hannah, Skylar,Danny Shimanovsky,Marquesa
Calderon, Councilor Henderson, Kent Wyatt
Potential Members: Barbara Ann,Thvy, Kaylee,James Kinikini
Unexcused:Alexa, Grant, Lindsey, Emily
Excused: Sarah,Juliette
3. OLD BUSINESS
Club Rush: We received seven applications from the event.
Consider working with Youth Advisory Councils in Beaverton &Tualatin. We could potentially
collaborate on a project for the homeless.
Zahra created a flyer for the Fall Photo Contest. Prizes might include a gift bag: a gift card to
Symposium and a mug.
Elections
o Current Vice-President Mike resigned,
o Zahra voted as the new vice-president,
o Danny voted as the new community outreach officer
o Hannah voted as the new Technology Manager.
4. NEW BUSINESS
Youth Spotlight Award, September
o Kendall and Cameron coordinated a Thespian workshop for youth in Tigard
o Cindy, scored a last-minute goal for Tigard HS's Girls' Soccer
City of Tigard Logo Contest
o Create a flyer similar to the one for the photo contest.
o We'll decide on finalists, then use a Twitter poll.
o Will be revealed at the State of the City in January.
School-wide/City-wide/Community-wide CPR class/summit
o Use funding for food
Police Partnership: inform people on their rights to educate the community
o Partner with STUD, Student Health Advisory Board
Invite a Police Officer as a guest speaker.

Homelessness: Consider making sandwiches and giving out to the homeless and making fleece
blankets.
