To DAN NELSON,
In response to the plan check for the above referenced project,
1) Provide footing calcs for all spread footings supporting point loads using 3000# psf as per
soils report for long term loading and update plans.
Response: See included calculations per designer.
2) Indicate post locations and sizes on plans.
Response: A post schedule has been added to the plans to indicate post types for gravity
load conditions. All posts required for lateral load conditions are either noted on plan or noted
in the hold-down schedule for hold-down posts.
3) Show 3x members and staggered nailing for E type shear wall on shear wall details.
Indicate top and bottom nailing forA and B shear walls.
Response: Detail has been added to all sheets at the Shearwall schedule.

Response: Owner to coordinate. Geotech inspection shall be completed prior to
construction.
5) Show property line firewall protection for north/east corner.
Response: Reference modified plans.
6) Shear wall at rear party walls does not match calcs.
nl.
Response: See revised plans.
7) Show all hold down locations on plans.
Response: All Hold-downs are now shown on all plans, including the foundations. Reference
modified plans.
8) Provide engineer calcs showing depth, length, and width of foundation at hold down
locations.
Response: All buildings were carefully reviewed and footing sizes were checked for all HD's
for uplift. Buildings 1, 5 and 6 have been modified to include larger footings as needed. See
included additional footing calculations and revised building foundation plans.
9) All ground floor units are required to be B type accessible units.
Response: Reference modified plans.
10) Provide 60 inch clearance between appliances and counters on floor plans in u-shaped
kitchen.
Response: Reference modified plans.
11) Show option A or B for B type units.
Response: Reference modified plans.
12) Show details of A type showers including controls, required grab bars.
Response: Reference modified plans.
13) All general notes are to be upgraded to current code requirements.
Response: Reference modified plans.
14) Provide calcs for 17ft 2x10s @ 16" oc joist on third floor framing.
Response: See included calculations per designer.
15) Show connections for back span beam to cantilever beam at both ends.
Response: Reference modified plans.
16) Detail#2 from calcs to be on main plans and type of hold down required.
Response: Reference modified plans.

3,000 soil bearing pressures.See updated foundation pages for additional footings that were
added.
2. Added post sizes to all framing plans.
3. Added shearwall nailing detail number 30/DS.2
4. Contractor to coordinate with Geo-Tech for footing prep and inspection. Note added to all
foundation plans showing Geo-Tech to be on site.
5. Added firewall protection at this location.
6. This has been revised
7. Plans now show all holdown locations specifically.
8. Engineering calcs updated to include this information.
9. Added note to all ground floor units
10. Note added to u-shaped kitchens
11. All type B units to be option B. Note added.
12. All units are to be Type B Units, except as noted.Shower detail added to Type A units.
13. General notes have been updated on cover sheets and on sheet WT.
14. Calcs added,joists revised to double 2X10's at 16"o.c.at 16'-10"span.

Subject: 2013 NFPA-72 23.6.1
Hi Dan,
The apartment campus fire alarm design we discussed yesterday may be affected by 2013 NFPA-72 23.6.1
Performance of Signaling Line Circuits(SLCs).A single fault on a pathway connected to the addressable devices shall not
cause the loss of more than 50 addressable devices.
The way many designers make this work is with addressable isolation modules.
When a short circuit on the SLC downstream of an isolation module occurs, the fault is isolated from the addressable
devices upstream from the module.
In a fire alarm system serving multiple buildings, we would install an isolation module on each SLC as it leaves the fire
alarm control panel,on the way to another building. This would be true for single building having more than 50 devices
too.
