Response: Contractor is to provide hold down anchors per contract documents and
manufacturer recommendations. All anchors that are not installed at time of concrete pour will
require post installed special inspection and may also require foundation repairs to produce

Special Inspection Requirements
Our office has been asked to waive the special inspection requirements called for on the approved
permit documents. WDY recommends special inspections be provided as standard construction
practice for the protection of the owner. Inspections that are not specifically required by code can be
waived at the owner's direction, however, the owner therefore accepts full responsibility for any non-
compliant issues that may arise.
item #1: The minimum soil pressure used for design was 1500 psf. This is a code minimum allowed
without verification. Therefore, Geotechnical special inspections called for on the permit documents
can be waived with owner approval.
Item #2: Per OSSC code section, single story residential construction can be exempt from
inspections. Therefore, Concrete testing and inspections called for on the permit documents can be
waived with owner approval.
Item #3: Al post installed anchors require periodic special inspections and cannot be waived. The
contractor is to provide these inspections during the installation process per the manufacturer
recommendations
