American Legion Post 158, Community Band performance, presentation by high
school student on freedom flight to New York, refreshments and social time.

The American Legion Auxiliary will be assist in setting up the cookies and punch. We
Will buy refreshments with remaining gift certificates from Safeway - left over from the
city birthday celebration.
Liz will be the employee on site.

Dear Sir or Madam.
On November 13, 2001, the City of Tigard had.an opportunity to honor the Korean War
Veterans,in our area along with other war veterans.
Enclosed is the activity report and an.announcement of the event on the front page of
the City's monthly newsletter, Cityscape Also included is a video tape of the activities.
Approximately 80 citizens attended this activity and expressed their appreciation for
the efforts made toxemember the veterans.
In addition to the activities of November 13, the Korean War Commemorative materials
have been on display in the lobby of City Hall during the entire month.
I hope this information is of value to you in documenting the activities conducted
during this program.

Shortly after Dorsie graduated from Sherwood High School he was drafted
into the Army After completing basic trauung he was sent to Korea,
landed in Pusan, and went farther North from there. He served for 17
months and was wounded by mortar fire while in combat. He was
released from the hospital on July 27, 1953 - the day the war ended.

"When we first went over there, the powers-that-be called it a 'police action' If that was
a police action, it was a mighty long beat in a darn tough neighborhood. People call the
Korean War 'the forgotten war' but we GIs remember it very well.
