International Fire Code,2013 Edition as Adopted by the State of Oregon 3.NFPA 13,2013 Edition DESCRIPTION OF WORK Townzen&Associates,Inc has prepared this high-piled storage submittal for Medline Industries, Inc for submittal to the City of Tigard for review and approval based on adopted code requirements of the city. BUILDING/OCCUPANCY The building is classified as a warehouse(S-1)occupancy in accordance with the IBC.The storage height is 25 feet with a ceiling height of 30 feet and is not public accessible. f1 c m FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM m a it it The building is fully sprinklered with the warehouse area protected by an ESFR sprinkler system designed to provide a minimum pressure of 35 PSI flowing 12 sprinklers, using ESFR-17, K16.8 pendent sprinkler heads.There is a m fan I Der monitored fire alarm system within the building.The ESFR system was installed in July/August 2015. Below is a copy of NFPA 13,Table 17.2.3.1 which indicates the type of sprinkler to be used based on the height of the storage .o t, 0 G7 and the ceiling height. The system installed complies with this table. Sheet HPS-5 is the as-built drawing of the sprinkler system. None of the commodities are banded or encapsulated and are stored throughout the facility. 4.Each pallet has 64 cubic feet of volume 5.All storage is in racks,there is no pile storage. Medline will store more than a dozen major medical product categories,including exam gloves,textiles,durable medical equipment,plastic patient utensils,skin care,disposable incontinence care,OR kits,protective apparel, gauze, packs and gowns,bathing systems,surgical trays and advanced wound care. Because of the large amount of plastics in the storage,the overall commodity classification will be defines as Group"A"unexpanded plastics (high hazard commodity). 6.Storage will be in cardboard boxes on standard wooden pallets in double row racks without solid shelves up to a maximum of 25 feet.Aisles between each rack are a minimum of 8 feet in width and all racks will have the se required flu spaces as required in the IFC.The size of each storage array is indicated on the rack section plan on sheet HPS-4. (� 7.The total amount of high pile storage is approx.65,500square feet.The building is 82,430 square feet. Z SMOKE AND HEAT REMOVAL There are no smoke vents in the building,as this is allowed with ESFR protection. (n ACCESS NOTES w Fire department access is provided,with access roadways extending to within 150 feet of all portions of the exterior walls in accordance with IFC.There are access doors provided within each 100 lineal feet of the east and west exterior walls as required by the IFC.
