NOTE:
This memo is intended to clarify outstanding items specified by the site inspector. It
is our understanding that the back tie beam, specified in the memo dated November
10, 2015, is to be attached to the main house with a modification to detail R1. The
detail R1 calls for the rebar to be post-installed into the existing footing with epoxy.
In lieu of this connection, existing foundation bars were left exposed and will lap
with the new tie beam bars and shall be considered adequate to make this
connection. This is a cast in place condition and special inspection is not required.
It has also been noted that the exterior sheathing has been exposed over the summer
and we have observed the condition of the plywood and found no evidence of
damage caused by this exposure. No swelling of the panels was observed and no
instances of nail head pushout were observed. We approve the condition of the
existing roof and wall plywood sheathing:
If you have any questions please give me a call.

MEMORANDUM ADDRESSING CONCERNS FROM THE CITY OF TIGARD
To: TimberRidge Development
1001 Northwest Lovejoy Street, #812
Portland, Oregon 97209
Attention: John Duncan
From: Jeremy Fissel, PE - Project Manager
EEI Report No.: 15-004-11
Date: December 7, 2015
Subject: City of Tigard Request for Proposed Pile Cap Capacities for the
New Single Family Residence at
12412 Southwest Autumnview Drive
Tigard, Oregon
Permit No.: City of Tigard #MTS2014-00196
Mr. Duncan:
We understand that the City of Tigard inspector for the project has requested that the
Geotechnical Engineer confirm that the current fill soils surrounding the proposed pile caps are
suitable for the planned construction. This memorandum addresses those concerns.
Due to the existing site topography, EEI had recommended in our Report No. 15-004-09 dated
5/4/2015 that the rear porch foundation be supported by 4-inch diameter pin piles driven to
refusal. We recommended an allowable axial capacity of 16 kips for these deep foundations —
this includes a safety factor of 2 based on published pile testing data.
Sherman Engineering has structurally designed the pile caps for this project. We understand
the lateral loading of the rear porch structure will primarily be transferred to the new residence
(i.e. no lateral load will be going into the piles from the structure).
On 11/20/2015 an EEI representative had observed the 4-inch dimeter pin piles had been driven
to refusal.
Because the vertical loading of the rear porch is transferred through the proposed pile caps to
the installed pin piles as recommended by EEI, the fill soils surrounding the proposed pile caps
will not adversely affect our recommended pile capacity.
