Mixed-Use Housing Project in Downtown Tigard Breaks Ground
The City of Tigard and the City Center Development Agency, the city's urban renewal agency, will
celebrate the start of work on the $30 million Burnham and Ash mixed-use development, on
Monday,Nov. 16, at 4 p.m.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at the corner of Burnham Street and Ash Avenue.
Tigard Mayor John Cook, representatives of developers Premium Property-Tigard LLC, the City
Center Advisory Commission, the Tigard Downtown Alliance and other stakeholders will attend the
celebration of a major milestone in the revitalization of downtown Tigard.
"This is a turning point for downtown Tigard," said Kenny Asher, director of Community
Development. "The district has never before seen this kind of infusion of private capital, nor this
much housing, nor this many dollars soon to be shopping up and down Main Street. It is a
tremendous accomplishment."
The project includes 165 market-rate apartments and 2,000 square feet of commercial space. The
project implements several long-held goals for the downtown and implements objectives of the
Tigard Downtown Improvement Plan, the City Center Urban Renewal Plan and the Downtown
Connectivity Plan.
"Market rate housing will enhance the downtown district," said Steve DeAngelo, president of the
Tigard Downtown Association. "Adding 165 units with new consumers to support downtown
businesses will be a positive addition to the local economy."
The development also supports Tigard's recently adopted strategic vision to become the most
walkable community in the Pacific Northwest where people of all ages and abilities enjoy healthy
and interconnected lives. For more information visit www.tigard-or.gov/city hall/redevelopment.
