As part of a tenant improvement for the suite on the 2nd floor of the building we are relocating (10) horn strobes and removing (4) smoke detectors from the area. The one manual pull station located at the rear exit will remain in it's current location The existing fire alarm panel is a Silent Knight 5820XL, which utilizes (4) notification circuits. In addition to the (4) on board circuits there is a notification expansion panel next to the fire alarm panel that provides an additional (4) notification circuits. The circuit that serves the suite that the tenant improvement is being conducted is from the notification expansion panel circuit #3. Since we are only relocating the current devices, no additional circuits will need to be provided. (See the "voltage drop" calc.) The notification expansion panel is a Silent Knight 5495. (Data sheet provided) The horn strobes currently in place are Edwards EGC-HDVM. (see voltage drop calc's and spec sheets) When any of the smoke detectors, sprinkler water flow, or manual pull stations are activated, the horn strobes will activate and remain activated until silenced by someone at the fire alarm panel or remote annunciator. The system is monitored by a UL listed central station. Edwards recommends using the Typical Current for system design including NAG and Power Supply loading and voltage drop calculations. 4 Use the Vdc RMS current ratings for filtered power supply and battery AH calculations.Use the Vfwr RMS current ratings for unfiltered power supply calculations. 5 Fuses, circuit breakers and other overcurrent protection devices are typically rated for current in RMS values Most of these devices operate based upon the heating affect of the current flowing through the device. The RMS current(not the mean current)determines the heating affect and therefore, the trip and hold threshold for those devices. 6. Our industry has used'mean'currents over the years. However,UL will direct the industry to use the 2004 RMS values in the future. dBA output Light output - (effective cd) UL464 Average Peak High dB J — —I— Percent of UL rating versus angle Temporal , Temporal Setting i Temporal ' Steady <<.,......., Steady i Steady 120 110 MO 00 90 70 50 50 40 00 20 I0 0 10 70 30 40 50 .
