MEETING DATE/TIME: Tuesday,June 2, 2015, 5:30 p.m.

1. CALL TO ORDER
This meeting was called to order at 5:40 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL
Members in attendance: Elsa Schuman-Lanier,Jordan Stephens, Breanna Bennett, Zack Dean, Adam
LaFountain, Caleb Torgerson (presiding), Mike Coloma, Tyler Nickla, Zahra Hashmat
Absent members: Carter Kruse, Shaun Rasmusen, Maddie Joel, Rayman Kirby,Jezeth Zaragoza,
Nathaniel Ung, Christopher Rebolledo,Joseph Murche
Staff in attendance: Marty Wine, Councilor Henderson
3. OLD BUSINESS:
• Accomplishments: The TYAC discussed its 2015 accomplishments including: Adopting Main
Street, hosting the Youth Summit, launching the courtyard project at Tigard High School,
creating the Halloween room, hosting a Burgerville fundraiser, and creating t-shirts with a TYAC
logo.
• Summer meeting schedule: the group agreed to meet once a month during the summer months
and meet every other Tuesday again beginning in September. Scheduled dates for the next
meeting are July 11, 10:30 am and August 11, 10:30 am. (Need to secure locations for these
meetings and develop agendas.)
• Future plans and vision for TYAC: TYAC discussed how it could contribute to the courtyard
project at the high school and whether the funds raised from the Burgerville fundraiser should be
used for that project. (Marty will determine if the city can hold the funds for the TYAC for a
future use.) The group also discussed whether TYAC could support a walk/run event or help an
existing event with promotion. This is a topic for the summer meetings.
• Member recruitment: the Council discussed how new members would be invited to join. Zack
Dean has 2-3 people who he has invited. All wanted to be sure that they have an electronic copy
of the application. Club rush is on 9/23 at Tigard High School. Each member present was asked
to recruit two other people to join. Applications have been placed at the high school tiger cage.
An announcement is in Cityscape and with the middle schools. Deadline for applications is 6/30.
• Amendment to by laws: TYAC unanimously approved amendments to the by laws by
eliminating the committee structure, combining the VP and Treasurer officer positions, and

adding Technology and Marketing officers to TYAC officers. The language about holding
elections was eliminated from page 2 and page 5 to reference timing of elections to be held "at the
last meeting of the school year." The Council discussed whether the bylaws should change to
encourage greater attendance but decided to revisit that section at a later time. Amendments will
go to the City Council for approval in June.
4.NEW BUSINESS
• May Youth Spotlight is Liz Prouty, who set the pole vault record at 12'6" and won the statewide
tournament in the event. (Caleb will send Joanne an outline of her accomplishments.)
