Youth Advisory Council - Minutes

1. CALL TO ORDER
This meeting was called to order at 5:32 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL
Members in Attendance: Carter Kruse, Caleb Torgerson, Zach Dean, Shaun Rasmusen,Jordan
Stephens, Breanna Bennett, Maddie Joel, Adam LaFountain, Mike Coloma, Tyler Nickla, Zahra
Hashmat, Elsa Schuman-Lanier
Absent Members: Rayman Kirby,Jezeth Zaragoza, Nathaniel Ung, Christopher Rebolledo,Joseph
Murche
Staff in attendance: Marty Wine, Councilor Henderson
3.OLD BUSINESS:
• Minutes from February 17 -Mike motioned to approve minutes, Tyler seconded, minutes approved.
• Youth Summit - Carter will approach the people behind#ICANHELP to see if they would be
interested in running our introductory speech. Twality Middle School is reserved for this event. In
terms of promotion we will use posters and an online version of this poster to hopefully get an
estimate of how many people will be attending so we can make sure we have the appropriate
amount of food.
We will also begin looking for speakers. Here are the assignments we decided on:
o Rutschman-Maddie o Boy Scouts/Community
o Stover- Tyler Service/Rotary-Adam
o Personal Finance - Zach o CPR, TVF&R-Marty
o Manning- Caleb o Dessert -Jordan
o Entrepreneurship - Carter o Greg Sheldrich- Tyler and Maddie
o City Gov, Kent Wyatt? - Adam o Self Defense-Nathan
o Coulson-Elsa o Mewison -Jordan
o Community Service - Caleb
• Adopt a Street Project: We decided to move forward with adopting Maine Street. Zach will be the
spokesperson for our council.
• Courtyard Project: We are going to run fundraisers through Burgerville and possibly Jamba Juice to
raise money for this project. Dates will be decided soon.
• DARE/GREAT: GREAT is still done in schools with 12 sessions. We will look into doing a
question and answer session between High School and Middle School students during one of these
sessions.

• Dog Video Contest: We will continue to promote the video contest through social media in the last
week open for submissions.
4.NEW BUSINESS
• Youth Spotlight: Olivia Paulson was selected for the month of February
• SPED Buddies: Carter has our assignments and we will try to meet with them this Thursday during the
last 15 minutes of our 4th block.
5.ADJOURN
Our next meeting will be March 17
