Rogers Engineering has completed a structural plan review for iFly Indoor Skydiving on behalf
of the City of Tigard. Rogers Engineering recommends approval of the associated
construction documents.
Approval is based on revised structural calculations and structural drawings submitted through

Rogers Engineering is providing structural plan review services for the City of Tigard. A
preliminary review of the drawings for the above noted project has been completed. Additional
information or clarification is needed for the following items in order to complete the review.
1. The minimum design snow load is 20 psf,plus drift and rain on snow. Sheet SR-0001
shows 15.8 psf. Provide clarification. OSSC Sec. 1608
2. Specify on the drawings the location and magnitude of snow drift loads. OSSC Sec.
1603.1
3. Structural calculations appear to have been omitted for the W14x82 beams on sheet SR-
1001. OSSC Sec. 1604.4
4. Calculations for level two beam 395 evaluate a W16x40, whereas sheet SR-1002 shows a
W16x26. Provide clarification. OSSC Sec. 107.1
5. Where are second level beams 362 and 402 in the calculations located on the plans?

6. Where are second level W8x10 beams 333, 334, 335,336,400, and 401 in the
calculations shown on the plans? OSSC Sec. 107.1
7. Calculations for level three beams B295 and B339 evaluate a W14x22. Sheet SR-1003

15. Where does the SAFE foundation analysis specify reinforcing? OSSC Sec. 1604.4
16. Provide calculations for all connections. OSSC Sec. 107.1 & 1604
17. The spread footing design appears to specify#6 bottom bars. Clarify where this is shown
on the plans. OSSC Sec. 107.1
18.Where do the plans specify the entry stair stringer. OSSC Sec. 107.1
19. Where are concrete pilaster calculations? OSSC Sec. 107.1
20. Provide calculations for the masonry screen wall. OSSC Sec. 1604.4
21.Where are the dimensions of the pilasters on sheet SR-3100 specified? OSSC Sec. 107.1
22. Member size and configuration for the canopy in the calculations does not match the
drawings. Provide revised calculations, including design loads. OSSC Sec. 1604.4
23. Clarify where the lateral loads for shear walls W-1 and W-2 are resolved. It appears that
the walls terminate at level 1 (detail 9/SR-3101). OSSC Sec. 1604.9
24. Provide calculations for lateral loads at detail 6/SR-3101. OSSC Sec. 1604.9
25. Provide calculations for all light gage stud walls. OSSC Sec. 1604.4
26. Provide calculations for guardrail connections. OSSC Sec. 1607.7.1
27. Provide a copy of the geotechnical report. The page from the geotechnical report in the
calculations specifies 3,000 psf allowable bearing, whereas sheet SR-0001 indicates
4,000 psf. OSSC Sec. 107.1 & 1803.2

Just a heads up on the iFly building permit we took in today. I want to be clear that planning has NOT approved this
building permit application for issuance, but we are allowing a preliminary plan check as a courtesy to the applicant due
to the unusual construction of the building. Furthermore, significant changes to the site plan may still occur so I would
limit review to the structure. Please fee free to see me with any questions.
