New web site makes city services more mobile-friendly
On Jan. 20,many Tigard residents checking their computers and smart phones will find a new look and feel
to the City of Tigard's web site.
The new online home for the city culminates a year-long,multi-department effort to improve a core city
service many citizens in Tigard and beyond expect from their government. The redesigned site makes it
easier for residents and other users to access city services at home, at school, at work and on the go.
"The City of Tigard recognizes many residents are now accessing information on their smart phones and
tablets, and the new web page design makes our site more user-friendly wherever you are," said City
Manager Marty Wine. "The web site will also make it easier for residents, businesses and others to connect
with City Hall and keep up to date with information on social media and channels they prefer."
The city serves many digital users. For a recent 30-day period ending in mid January, the web site counted
more than 88,000 page views. After the city's home page, the most popular web page was the city's job
listings page, followed by the Library's home page.
Patrons also use the web site to pay bills and fines, reserve park shelters, obtain a business license, find a
walking trail and access public records. The new site allows users to navigate to their needed service with
fewer clicks.
The city's newly adopted Strategic Plan calls for Tigard to be the most walkable community in the region
where people of all ages and abilities enjoy healthy and interconnected lives. Interconnected for many
Tigard residents means having access to city services when they need it,including on their mobile
communications devices.
The new site supports the plan's goal of engaging the community with dynamic communication.
A new page provides easy access for visitors to follow the city's social media accounts. Residents can also
quickly sign-up for the city newsletter Cityscape and 10 other email services that provide updates on City
Council activities, development news and commission activities.
