Tigard Public Library Board — Minutes
MEETING DATE/TIME: Wednesday,July 10, 2013 7 p.m.

1. CALL TO ORDER:
At 7:00 p.m.Vice-Chair John Storhm called to order the July 10,2013 Tigard Library Board.
2. ROLL CALL
Present at the meeting were: Katie Harris,Linda Monahan,Dan Snyder,John Storhm and Jan Thenell;
Alternate Nicci Walker;Library Director Margaret Barnes and Executive Assistant Alison Grimes. Laura
Cadiz and Scott Hancock were excused.
3. APPROVE MINUTES
The Board reviewed and, there being no additions or corrections, approved the June 12, 2013 minutes as
presented.

4. AGENDA ADDITIONS AND DELETIONS
None.
5. CALL TO THE PUBLIC
No staff member was on the agenda nor were there any guests present.
6. INTRODUCTION OF NEW BOARD MEMBERS
Several new Board members were in attendance and welcomed by all. Members and staff introduced
themselves and told a little bit about their background and interests. The 2013-2014 Board roster was
distributed.
7. SUMMER READING UPDATE
Various statistics regarding adult,teen and kids' Summer Reading sign-up were discussed. Barnes noted that
adult registration appears to have increased slightly from previous years.
8. LIBRARY OPERATIONS
Barnes handed out the monthly statistics for the Library and WCCLS. End-of-year statistics regarding wireless
use,materials added and withdrawn and volunteerism were also distributed and discussed. DVD circulation has

been extended to a three-week check-out. Beginning Monday,July 8,Nooks and Kindles were made available
for the public. They are pre-loaded with various bestsellers - some are geared for adults and some for teens. 14
to 16 e-readers were checked out quickly. When all are fully loaded,a total of 20 will be available to patrons.
Available readers will be located at the beginning of the new book section.
9. OTHER BUSINESS
Barnes reminded all that there is no Board meeting in August. Election of officers will be held during
the September meeting. Review and reaffirmation of the ALA (American Library Association) policies
will begin in the fall.

There being no further business, Storhm adjourned the meeting at 7:34 p.m.
The next meeting of the Tigard Library Board will be Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 7 p.m. in the
second floor Conference Room of the Library, 13500 SW Hall Blvd.,Tigard.
